Fishing in the Dordogne
Fishing friends are really welcome in the Dordogne, and you are more than welcome to fish in our two lakes which contain many species of fish including trout and carp.
In our area are also a lot of other private lakes which are available for fishing at an average cost of 10€ per day. Just three minutes from us there is one such lake,
which is huge (18 acres large) and is re-knowned for it’s great pike fishing.
Another highlight of your holiday would be to go fishing on the river, to do this one must obtain a fishing pass locally by providing proof of your identity via a passport photo. The pass includes a map showing all the different categories of local rivers
and lakes. The costs are 10€ for a Day Pass or 32€ for a Weekly Pass.
The regulations for fishing are taken very seriously in France and must be adhered to.
Here are the rules:
Category 1 lakes/rivers— only one line allowed.
Category 2 lakes/rivers— Up to four lines permitted.
Night fishing is restricted to particular points or private lakes.
The local rule book states the times when fishing is allowed, for example on the
18th May one would be allowed to start at 6.21am and continue until 9.22pm.
You can only catch a maximum of 6 trout in any one day (the minimum sized catchable trout is 23cm long, if smaller than this they have to be returned to
the water, living).
Competition fishing is also often available at many of the lakes in the local area.
Etang du cabarret 3 Min. to go from us. He has an Area of about 6,5 HA.
